Hello!

I’m a writer and I teach others to write.

I have short stories and essays published and forthcoming at Necessary Fiction, Word Riot, Keyhole, The Feminist Breeder, and Underwater NY. Links can be found here. The short stories are mostly from an unpublished collection of connected stories.

Some of my screenplays and films have been selected for festivals including the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, New Filmmakers at Anthology Film Archives, the IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Conference, and as a finalist for the Sundance Institute’s Screenwriter’s Lab.

Like many writers, prior to teaching writing I held a number of jobs for brief periods of time including selling iced teas in concert parking lots, selling hermit crabs on the boardwalk, and cleaning motel rooms and vacation homes.

I’ve lived in New Jersey–both New Jerseys: South and North–forever and will always feel that indelible Jersey pride. I share my fairly crunchy life with an amazing husband, who is nothing like any of the characters in my fiction, my incredible son, and some cats.

I’m currently at work on my first novel.
